How the real test works in Lucerne

No cantonal test. Usually the commune asks about the Confederation, canton and commune in the naturalisation interview; some communes use a written test.

Depends on the commune.

How the practice test works

Every round is put together from scratch: questions about the canton and about Switzerland, drawn at random from our question bank. So you practise differently each time.

As in the real test, you only see what was right at the end. You can change answers until you hand in and jump to any question from the overview. When the time runs out, the test is handed in automatically.

The results show your score by topic, the correct answer and an explanation for every question. Your results are stored only in your browser on your device; we never receive them.

Keyboard: choose an answer with 1–4 or A–D, change questions with the arrow keys.

Tips for test day

  • Bring a valid ID and arrive on time.
  • Read each question twice. Watch out for words like “not”, “always” or “only”.
  • Answer the questions you are sure about first, then come back to the hard ones.
  • Do not leave a question blank if wrong answers are not penalised.
  • At the end, check that you have answered every question.
